Tricks and Costs - Part 3

Tricks:

If you’re not a quick typist or experienced transcriber (while strangely enough, I am both), get someone to do that for you. I heard one of the 2003 cohort say it was the best $200 he ever spent, to get his stuff transcribed. Also check the methodology research before you transcribe, to determine what level of detail you are going to require on the printout before you start coding it. I only learned that afterwards but think I’ll be ok.

Get an advisor, either formal or informal, who REALLY edits your work – the red pen comments are so valuable at the early stages even when they’re alarming to look at.

Costs:

Whatever you plan, make sure you deliver – this is not the time to lose friends, trust or faith, as you will need at least those to finish.

Mercury soared so hydro costs now include fans.

Hotspot fees to continue using the internet when away from home in hotels, airports, coffeeshops, etc.

Oh damn, ice cream season. This will be followed by the cost allowance for weight watchers or a gym membership!
